Hi I am a 28 year old woman who has suffered with vision snow and other funky visual disturbances for 8 years. I find it truelly compelling and remarkable that their are so many others like me. I swear that if I would've known this 8 years ago that things would've been alot different. My vision snow started (I believe) after an experimental incident with weed laced with cocaine and embalming fluid. Freaky I know. At the time I did not know the weed contained extras but nevertheless I had a bad reaction to it. Since then I've suffered from halos, trails, afterimages, black dot phenomena, vision snow, and alot of other odd disturbances that drove me crazy. What was worse is that no one understood or believed me. I had countless trips to opthamologists, neuro opthamologist, neurologist and had mri's, ct's, spinal taps and lots of lab work done, only to be told that I was healthy. I was even told that I could have lupas, ms, psuedo tumor, migraines, scotomas and other diseases that I really didn;t have at all. To make matters worse, because there was no clinical explanation for my symptoms everyone thought it was just in my head. I was so depressed and distraught that I thought about suicide. Even I began to think I was crazy! All I knew was that I saw what I saw and no one could tell me why. Eventually I learned to adjust to what Iwas seeing and taught myself how to ignore it. I knew that I had to go on living somehow. This worked because now I am married with two kids. The snow is still there but I do not notice it as much so to me it has gotten alot better. What I will say is that I do notice that when I am under a huge amount of stress the vision snow gets worse which causes alot of anxiety. To those who are new sufferers keep your head up and know that will get better for you too!

It is so interesting to see how vision snow affect so many lives. I forgot to add that I never had panic attacks or a true problem with depression until after the vision snow appeared. I will say that I am a complete worry wart and I think it made a more suseptible and vulnerable to this problem. At first I never put drug usage and the vs together because I was never that heavy into drugs. But after reading so many post that says they have and that their snow started afterwards, I find that interesting. But I do remember one night I rubbed my right eye and when I opened it I saw static and panicked. I went to the er and everything but nothig was found to be wrong. Several months after this one incident did the vs actually start persistently. I will also say that it was not until after the vs did I start complaining about headaches. I see flashes of colors also and that is when I feel sick to my stomach. I was started on Lexapro a couple of months ago and I think that it has cleared some of the vs because I see alot clearer. We have alot in common as far as depression(which I do not think that vs is a mental illness. I think that it causes depression and anxiety)alot of us a an history of headaches. Whick in my family I have never heard anyone complain of this at all. I think it is caused because of some type of electrical chemical in our brains. What do you think?

I am glad to see i am not the only one. I have been having snow in my vision since i was 11 and i am 24 now. I also have floaters that drive me nuts. I went to see an eye doctor and they tell me nothing is wrong. Sometimes i even get panick attacks because i m afraid that i will lose my vision. I read another thread with a girl who was having the same problem and she was told that she has a cyst in her brain.

Hi, ihave had most of these effects for about 26 years, i did take a bit of LSD and magic mushrooms when i was a teenager, and started getting paranoia and panic attacks from cannabis, i wonder whats going on sometimes, i think alcohol makes it worse and neon lights make my eyes sore, ive never heard of any cures for it and wondered if itwas brain damage or permenant damage to my eyes? Any ideas?

I'm 29 yrs old and have had snow vision along with ringing in my right ear since I was 8yrs old. I had found the explanation for the ringing in my ear some time ago (tendinitis)....as for the snow vision when i saw the eye doctor at age 8 they said my vision was fine and had never heard of it before, I think my parents thought I was probably just making something up. Since then I believed that everyone saw this way. I ran across this site today and I couldn't believe it, I was relieved to find that other people have the same symptoms(I'm not crazy).
I'm not sure if depression or anxiety would be the cause of it since i was 8 when I first noticed it? I was in a car accident around that age as well. I really can't recall whether or not it was before all this.

Orthodox doctors are unlikely to find anything, because modern medicine doesn't really look for cures (or having much in the way of cures).
Homoeopathy on the other hand is much more likely to hold the answer.
