Cold and flu problems for a pre-mature baby

Hello,

I am staying in new delhi, india. my son was born in the seven and half month on 11th April 2006. Cause of his prematurity was Intra Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR). One of his lung was not completely developed due to which he was put on ventilator, he remained on ventiltor for about a month and then he contracted infection and was in the NICU for about 2 months.

Post his first hospital discharged he had two episodes of cold, cough and chest infections due to which he was to be hospitalized. Since December 2006 uptill now everything was fine.

However when winter started in India now (Nov 2007) he has once again started cough and is also facing nose blockages. The doctor has suggested administrtion of Asthalin (1.5 ml) and Ipravant (1 ml) through nebulizer. he is also put on Asthalin and Tixylix syrup.

My worries is that is should not become a routine every year. How can we find a permnent resolution to this problem of cough and nose blockages.

I really appreciate your response to my post. Thanks for your help in advance.
