Sinus smell and taste.
I have had for the past 5 years an odour/smell, which seems to be in the right hand side of my nose, and if I block that side up it disappears, other people cannot smell it, so my wife tells me.Some days it is worse than others, I have periods when its really bad and some days when it is not really noticeable, when it is bad it can give me severe headaches and I can taste the smell.
I have been prescribed various antibiotics by my doctor, but no improvement therefore I was referred to the hospital, they also tried various sprays but still no improvement. I then had a MRI scan that showed there was an infection deep inside my RH sinus, an operation followed to clean out the infection but still I had the smell, this was over 2 years ago.
A follow up scan showed that all was clear except for a very small cyst, this was therefore removed, but the smell is still there so I was then referred to a neurology specialist. He after reading my notes and asking a few questions told me that he couldnt help.
The hospital have recently told me that there is nothing further they can suggest, and say that I will just have to live with it, which is not a very pleasant thought.
Any suggestions please, to help overcome this, it has been really bad for the last few weeks and if I go to my GP I am offered more antibiotics which have no effect whatsoever and it is all really getting me down?

Merc Sol 30C Homeopathic Tablets x 125.
I assume that this would not be strong enough.

Smell has improved, not sure if that is the Mercurius Sol or the fact that from time to time the problem comes and goes, time will tell.
I still have this bitter taste and dry mouth, sometimes my tongue is very sore, wondered if it is Burnt Tongue Syndrome?
Doctor cannot help.

1. Describe your main suffering?
I have had for the past 5 years an odour/smell, which seems to be in the righthand side of my nose, other people cannot smell it. I have periods when its really bad and some days when it is not really noticeable, when it is bad it can give me severe headaches and I can taste the smell.
Since 2009 sometimes have periods of a burning sensation that affect my tongue [tip mostly], sometimes lips, gums, palate.
Seems to get worse as the day progresses, a dry and very rough tongue with a bitter or metallic like taste
2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Have received treatment for Prostate C, Radiotherapy at end of 2007 followed by 36 months of hormone therapy.
PSA has been steady at 0.1 until 12 months ago when it rose slightly over the next 6 months to 0.59 the last 6 months has remained steady at 0.59.
3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
Have the odd panic attack.
4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?
Low
5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
Not really, wondered if it is associated with my treatment but medical people say no.
6. Which time of the day you are worst?
Nose can be all day. Tongue late afternoon.
7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?
Have not noticed anything.
8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
No.
9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
Does not matter, any weather.
