The ABC Homeopathy Forum
Unsure of dosage/strength
My practioner and I have recently felt that we've found my constitutional, that being Staphesagria. I've had lifelong and long-standing conditions with my bladder, genital area, stomach/digestive system, etc. so we originally felt that 10M would be good. However, I haven't felt any relief or shifts. We still feel that it's the correct remedy, but I probably need a different dosage/strength. What do you recommend?Moonstone8686 on 2012-06-14
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
She's a medical intuitive who I've worked with for quite some time with some experience with homeopathy, and has been consulting with a homeopath regarding my condition. However, the homeopath is unavailable right now and knew this was the appropriate place to turn to.

No one can make a judgement on the
dose unless you give your entire case
on here-and what doses you have
already taken and how they worked and
so on. 10m's are a very high dose and
they work in your system for a long time.
And the case taking in homeopathy is
based on many things, weather , food,
how many issues are there, when did
each one start, etc- just in order to
decide on what correct remedy is. So
any homeopath on here would have to
see if this is even your remedy in the
first place, let alone suggest how to
dose what you are taking.

Simone is right. Potency is selected on the basis of the individual case. There are a number of guidelines for this in homoeopathic practice, but it is not really possible to give them all here.
I would find it strange though, to get nothing from 10m if it is your simillimum. You most likely need to go lower, or to use the LM potencies.

Yes but David, ( Brisbane) if you gave
someone a 10m, when would you
decide that you wanted to go lower,
how long??
or did that never come up bc you I
know just do not hand out 10ms.

I would wait at least 2 weeks unless there was some pressing need to resolve symptoms that were putting the patient's health at risk.
And you are right, I rarely hand out 10M, the specific requirements for that potency are quite unusual.

the correct way to take constitutional remedy is that
1. TAKE 1M ON 1ST DAY OF MONTH
2.THEN 10 M ON 1ST DAY OF SECOND MONTH
CONTINUE PROCESS WITH 50 M AND 1 CM..
the strongest indication of medicine being constitutional remedy is the
after taking medicine u vl begin to feel good mentally and ur energy level will rise
there may be some aggravations.also dont take any other remedy in bw

That is not the correct way to use our medicines. Where did you get that from?
You would only ever go up in potency when the previous potency has stopped working, or you believe that the results have not been very good. You should never mechanically increase potency without reassessing the case. Mechanical prescribing has no place in homoeopathy.
It would be highly unusual for ANY patient to need 50m or CM. Giving it routinely to everyone does not follow the guidelines of homoeopathy, where every treatment plan is individualised, including potency selection.
Many patients require low potencies in the beginning, and many patients never move beyond 30c or 200c. Giving those patients unnecessary doses of higher potencies runs a risk of aggravating them or creating provings.
