TCM Melasma treatment is WORKING
Okay, so I have been battling terrible melasma on my upper lip (think 'dirt mustache') for nearly two years now and I have tried everything my dermatologist had to offer, including Hydroquinone, and nothing has worked. In fact, the Hydroquinone made it worse. I also worked with a naturopath to try to balance my hormones, support my thyroid and adrenals, etc. etc. Nothing! And I know this sounds crazy, but something finally worked -- traditional chinese medicine! I have been getting acupuncture for the last few weeks, taking some Chinese herbs and putting a concoction of Hawthorn root (shanza) and eggwhite on my face twice a day for an hour, and my melasma is ACTUALLY FADING. My partner thought I was crazy to try this, and I thought maybe I was too, but I figured, what's the harm in trying? It has yet to be determined whether the sun will make it worse again, or whether it will disappear entirely, but all I can say is I am THRILLED to finally have found something that seems to be working, isn't made out of poisonous chemicals and doesn't involve lasers! Truly astounded and wanted to pass this info along.spycookies on 2013-05-15

Hi! Can you tell me if it is Hawthorn root or the berry? I found info online that called for raw dried Hawthorn (shanzha) and to make sure to purchase the "sliced twisted kind". Then I came across your post that said you used "Hawthorn Root". I've called every chinese herbalist in China Town both in LA and Honolulu and none of them know which I should use. Can you PLEASE HELP ME and let me know and also if I can purchase it from the same place you purchase yours. THANK YOU!! AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST!!
