The ABC Homeopathy Forum
How remedies can work?
I have a small confusion:-Since homeopathic remedies should be able to work on Hormesis principle i.e high dose inhibition and low dose stimulation of physiological activities, how homeopathic remedies can work on this principle unless high dose of raw remedy substances are ingested and inhibiting the physiological activities?
Regards.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
This is not a small confusion-you are not understanding homeopathy
basics.

Thanks. Do you want to suggest that we ingest one substance as heavy dose which inhibit physiological activities but to cure it we can use other substance(similar) in low dose to stimulate physiological activities. If so, will it not oppose hormesis principle?

How herbs work and homeopathy works- are two totally different things.
You cannot compare the two things.
The goal of homeopathic remedies is to stimulate your own life force
to heal whatever symptoms you have.
If you are sick and your own life force is not clearing the illness
very well- you are stuck.
The homeopathic remedy whether it is low dose or high dose is based
on what is the closest remedy that matches the symptoms of your illness.
It is about finding the remedy that would cause these same symptoms
if a healthy person took the remedy.
Once you find the similar close match- it is similar to your sickness but
not exactly the same. So your life force reacts against the remedy to
clear it out. At the same time the remedy is so similar to your disease
that your life force also then clears out your sickness at the same time.
I don't know what you are talking about taking a low dose of something
to inhibit- suppress physiological activities-that is not homeopathic.
Or to take other things to stimulate physiological activities? You don't
use remedies like this.
Remedies in whatever dose-and dose has to do with sensitivity, how
fast the person responds, if it is an acute illness or chronic illness-
but the entire idea is to find the remedy that is SIMILAR to symptoms
and then choose potency based on many other things.

Thanks. Yes homeopathy is said to work in the manner. But what is the scientific basis of such working? I think it is attributed to Hormetic effect which suggest biphasic effect i.e stimulation of physiological activities or increased senstivity by low dose(here you can take it as homeopathic dose) which were oreviously inhibited by high dose(or decreased senstivity due to high dose or also suppression) of same substance. Hormesis is scientifically accepted theory & studied properly. You can also take it that when a person is taking excessive food he become bit lazy and do not take more food but when he is starved he do go in search of food agressively. But my confusion is that how a physiological activity inhibited by a substance can be stimulated by low dose of other substance using SIMILAR theory?

Study the law of Similars.
Hahnemann discovered homeopathy by taking Quinine when
he was HEALTHY. They were using Quinine to cure Malaria even
then. He took it and then started to have the symptoms of
Malaria.
This is the Law of Similars. Like cures Like.Has nothing to do
with previous high dose or suppression. It has to do with
matching the symptoms of illness with a remedy that will
cause those same symptoms in a healthy person.

Here taking Quinine by a healthy person can be related to high those inhibition and taking homeopathic dose by a sick person will be low dose stimulation of physiological activities. Such stimulation can also be considered as stimulation of life/vital force which was previously inhibited. I think another relevant aspect to it should be 'Miasma Theory' which may suggest that disease may happen due to some body instabilty. Moreover I also feel that proving symptoms in a healthy person can just be mild aggravation.
