Balanitis 4 yr old boy
Dear all,My 4 yr old boy was diagnosed with balanitis over a month ago. The anti-fungal cream the doctor prescribed seemed to make it worse. My brother is a doctor and gave us antibiotic cream which seemed to help but never cleared the redness completely. He was better but not completely cured for a couple of weeks. Now it is back, and I now see small lesions on the outside of the foreskin as well, there is redness and some swelling.
I am not sure, but I think this inflammation came as a response to some virus, he had canker sores in his mouth as well which went away after Borax. The sores have occasionally reappeared during this month, but Borax keeps them away.
In addition, he has had a history of ear infections, nose congestion, coughs, and sensitive GI tract (no diagnosis, but he had severe colic from 1 week old and his GI calmed down very slowly around 1 and 1/2 year old...)
In the past, Nux Vomica has helped with his cough and occasionally with GI discomfort.
Thanks to everyone in advance!

Dear Anuj,
The third day has just ended (1 day sulphur and 2 days Ferrum Phos). I think there is some improvement - the foreskin is not as red, now it is paler. There is only one small lesion that I can see. He is still bothered by it, and the foreskin will not retract easily. My son will not allow me to pull it because it hurts. I will continue with the Ferrum Phos until I hear from you.

Thanks. Actually, today is the 4th day (14h) and the redness has increased in comparison to last night (when I wrote the report). My son says it turns a lot more than it did yesterday. What should I do?
Thanks again for taking the time to respond!

Thank you, we will do this.
The elasticity is not good at all. he himself tried to pull it up the other day and caused a small lesion just from that.

Dear Anuj,
I tried mercury sol but it seemed to me he had a negative reaction to it, so I muscle tested it and it was weak. The sulphur and ferrum phos were strong.
Still no improvement - the redness is still there and still no elasticity.
Also, the two spots on his lips that were red and rough have returned. I believe that the balanitis first appeared together with this soreness on his lips. It is interesting, because the redness on his lips come and goes, but it is always on the same two spots. (just in case this is useful somehow).
Thanks again!

the sulphur and ferrum seemed to have also a positive effect on his energy level. he has always had less energy than a lot of the boys in his class and tires relatively easily, becomes cranky.
after we started sulphur and ferrum, he seemed to have more stamina and is in a much better mood most of the time.
I will ask him about the itching.
Thank you again!

The negative effect of the mercury was on his mood. Almost immediately he started complaining about something, and was just not happy. So I muscle tested it and did not give it again.

Hi Anuj,
Thank you again for all your help. My local store only has 30C from the kali sulph. I can order 6x, but it will take a few days. What is more important? To give it right away in 30C or to wait and give him 6x?
I have also heard about dissolving in water. Would it make it better if I dissolved the 30C in water?
Thank you so so much again,
Angelina

Dear Anuj,
This morning my son said it itches.
The redness seems to have diminished with the kali sulph, though not completely gone. Still no elasticity at all.

Please forgive me for not getting back to you after 4 days. I seem to be very bad at counting days.
We are back to redness of the foreskin, no elasticity, and some pain and discomfort.
I noticed that his cradle cap has improved a lot from one of these three homeopathics, but the improvement of the balanitis was brief.
I read on this forum about baths with salt and lavender, and then treatment with white thyme (with a carrier oil). I have tried the bath and the first time I did it, the redness completely disappeared for 2 hours. But not it's not effective any more. I use the thyme only around the irritated area, I cannot use it directly on the irritated area as it might be too painful.
Thank you!

Dear Anuj,
I am sorry I have not been in touch. Things were not going well, and I stopped everything for a few days. I soaked him with salt, lavender and chamomile. Then introduced Kali sulph again. Two days ago there was no redness! Now the redness is back, but not so strong.
But still no elasticity AT ALL. It is about a month, I think, since he has had phimosis. A balloon forms when he urinates. Do you have any advice on how to improve the elasticity?
Thanks so so so much,
Zdrave

I am sure you know already that good hygiene can prevent most cases of balanitis. When you bathe, pull back (retract) the foreskin to clean and dry the area under it.
