Potency Replacement in Homeopathy

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Potency replacement can not be done.

If at all, mother tinctures can be replaced with X dilutions like 1x,2x to 6x. Dosage could be same or could be reduced to 10 drops.

So if a homeopath has advised 10 drops of Avena Sativa Q twice daily and I cannot get it, I can replace it with 10 drops of Avena Sativa 6x?

syria 7 years ago
Yes.

simone717 7 years ago
And it's the same effect?

syria 7 years ago
More or less effect will be same.

And in many cases, what one will get as mother tincture will be one of these dilutions ---probably 3x or 6x more likely. And it'll be difficult to obtain mother tinctures or such low dilutions with snake remedies/medicines prepared from poisonous substances.

maheeru :

If I have been advised 20 drops of a mother tincute daily, can I take 20 drops of the diluted 3x, 4x or 6x version, or should I take fewer drops?

syria Aren't you the same person who asked for chelidonium Q? You can take 10 drops two times per day. If you feel dosage is getting overwhelming then you can reduce to 5 drops twice a day.

Roughly though the number of drops will be half of the weight.

for a 60 kg person 30 drops can be taken in a day. This can be distributed three times like ten drops thrice or fifteen drops twice.

Based on requirement and sensitivity drops can be varied between 10 to 30 a day.

Yes I'm the one...

Had a very rare case of prolonged Hepatitis A, started in May 2017, still not completely resolved but touching its end almost...

I'm now taking Kali Mur 30c and 3 mother tinctures mixed together : Chelidonium Carduus Marianus and Berberis Vulgaris.

It is pleasant to see that you still remember my question, shows how concerned you are about your patients. :-)

Thanks for the kind words syria.

Without concern we'll become mechanical, won't we? :)

maheeru 7 years ago
Yes indeed.

But it truly touches my heart me when a doctor/homeopath shows the human side and takes time for a patient, along with the professional side. Some keep it strictly professional and mechanical. It means a lot as a patient.

Have you ever handled cases of patients who had hepatitis A (which is cured by itself but mine took much more time unfortunately...)?

If yes, are the mother tinctures I'm taking good for this condition?

Professionalism in my view is not devoid of human element. A professional is after all a human.

Hepatitis can take a few weeks to several weeks depending on how a person responds to a medicine, his/her susceptibility and relevant complications. I usually add Phyllanthus Niruri/amarus herb or supplement---this also helps with blood work because despite getting cured some people fail in blood tests which prevents them from international travelling. I have seen cases(of other folk healers) where just the herb alone has cured these cases amazingly quick within a month or so.

In my view, chelidonium and Carduus marianus are very good organ support mother tinctures for liver and spleen respectively. The latter also works with liver. It's a commonly used safe regimen. But if you think you are not responding well to this or any other medicine then you need to look for alternatives. Generally theory apart, only those medicines give relief can be used further and medicines that are famed to cure this or that fail or aggravate, then they have to be replaced. I'm not sure about berberis here because i have not seen your symptom profile. Apart from these organ remedies sometimes these also are used in potency but if symptoms indicate towards other potency medicine they need to be taken.

Thanks for the detailed reply.

So my next blood test in on Monday/Tuesday, and it's gonna be 7 months. If the blood tests are still abnormal, do you advise to stop all medicines and just give a try to Phyllanthus Niruri mother tincture for a month?

My other question is :

Since hepatitis affects the liver, aren't the mother tinctures a problem since they all contain alcohool which goes straight to the liver? Doesn't the alcohool affect the liver?

Thanks beforehand.

No i would not want you to stop other medicines. And i didn't mean mother tincture of Niruri. Rather i meant herb in supplement form--- 250mg can be used in a day. It can be used apart from the medicines.

One takes mother tincture in some water. Alcohol in MT's rarely becomes a problem unless MT is drunk in plenty without water(more than half a litre) intentionally to get drunk.

Thank you.

In which country do you live maheeru?

Because in France, it's impossible to get that supplement...
Even the mother tincture is not available, it is available from 4x or 4c only.

syria 7 years ago
4x can be used as MT. But supplement is preferable.

If it's not available in physical stores you can try locate in online shops even outside the country where shipping is available.

The herb is a famous indian one. In south asian countries this herb is used for hepatitis/jaundice in different concoctions sometimes mixed with milk, sometimes leaves powdered.

That's the only thing available in France :

https://www.parapharmacie-chezmoi.fr/produit-boiron-boiron-g....

If you replace mother tincture with diluted 4x, should you still get the liquid or pellets are fine?

I found a few links for ordering the supplement, but I don't trust shopping on Amazon etc...they can send you anything with disgusting ingredients. I'll try once again in organic shops tomorrow but i'm not sure it's available.

I have found a supplement of Chanca Piedra 260mg per capsule. Should i go for it?

The low dilution 4x is free for me, the supplement is not free, but if you believe I need the supplement then I will buy the supplement.

A little update :

Retested today.

ALT is down from 175 to 130 (normal value is 16-63)

AST is down from 60 to 50 (normal value is 15-37)

The trend is good, it's going down but comparatively to normal patients whose hepatitis A cases take 2-3 months to resolve, my hepatitis A is now 7 months old...

P.S : the last whole week, didnt take Kali Mur,just took one dose of Natrum Mur 30c because had gurgling and a bout of diarrhea but it stopped after a dose of Natrum Mur.
Still continuing the three mother tinctures : Carduus Marianus, Chelidonium and Berberbis Vulgaris 10-15 drops each three times a day in a little water.

What's your view on the situation ?

syria 7 years ago
Kali mur and Nat. mur are good liver medicines---but for diarrhea from liver weakness there may be other medicines like nat.sulph.,phos etc. But without studying your symptom profile can't say much about which medicine you need to take now. And possibly you are receiving directions from a h'path here. So would not like to interfere. Also i may be slow in responses.

Yes chanca piedra is another name. Swanson vit. is one source to get such supplements.

Ok if 4x is free, then you might try it first. Only if it's not helping much then you can move to supplement.

The value of liver enzymes moving down is good trend. But it needs to hold consistently.

Thanks for your reply.

By the way, according to this article, I should not have taken Berberis Vulgaris, as with hepatitis A, I have a "hot" liver and Berberis is for "cool" livers. Thank God I only took it 2 weeks :

The link you gave talks from the point of herb in raw form. Even mother tincture is not the same as the raw substance.

So i'd not take this at the face value.

maheeru 7 years ago
Thank you.

You seem to know a lot about herbs/supplements.

Here in France, all naturopaths insist about the supplement Desmodium Adscendens for its amazing effects on the liver. They litteraly swear by it. They say it's the best to repair the liver.

On this forum and in India/Pakistan in general, people and homeopaths swear by Chelidonium.

I find it interesting that according to the country, differents herbs are top favourites .

Have you ever heard about Desmodium ?

syria 7 years ago
When one does not know it's not a problem, one can always seek knowledge. Either ask people in the know or seek out on internet. Today's technological advancement is like using a library but with less time.

If it's claimed so in the country where you live then it's worth a try. It's always said that eat fruits and vegetables of the season in a place to get optimal benefit. So if something is claimed as good in a place where one resides, it should be tried.

I have not heard about desmodium before but after a look up i think it's also available in homeopathy as a mother tincture but the indication is body pain, nerve pain. It's also said similar to Bryonia, Gels, where bryonia is a good medicine for liver.

Actually chelidonium is native to Europe but it's famous for liver in circles where there has been some connection to homeopathy.

Hello maheeru,

My livev tests are still not entirely normalised, despite me having no symptoms.

Can you advise something please in supplement/mother tincture/homeopathy?

syria 6 years ago
Hi Syria

We have discussed a couple of options i think. Do you have a specific doubt?

I was wondering why your case was taking more time than usual. Then a post from you turned the light on. I mean it's some what personal you were sending to the doctor. But i believe such influences(read STDs) can either complicate the picture or in some cases they may be the causing factors for liver disturbances/organ disturbances. If they are suppressed they can lead to multiple future issues.
