Interrupted sleep: please help or I start smoking again

Help! After quitting smoking four months ago I have been waking early in the morning (1-3 am) and unable to fall back asleep. I noticed that when I am on the verge of falling asleep some odd congestion in the nose/sinuses causes a apnea-like reaction, sudden waking, even slight heart pain. Congestion goes away during the day.

This is my n-th smoking cessation attempt and so far I have been returning to smoking because of sleep problems. I am highly intolerant of sleep deprivation because for many years I have suffered from memory and concentration problems; anxiety and depression have recently become a problem as well.

I have seen a homeopath for this and for my earlier complaints. He gave me staphisagria (sp?) in the evening + tabacum in the morning, both 9X. This did not work; he gave me pulsatilla+tabacum. This did not work either. By this I mean, I still wake up 1-3, have tough time falling back to sleep, feel confused and cannot work due to concentration and memory problems
