chronic cystic acne

I know this isn't a new topic, but I was hoping to get some feedback about my situation. I have chronic cystic acne. This started in late 2001 early 2002 when I was a freshman in college and has persisted. Usually gets worse around fall and lasts until mid/late winter, but this time has not abated. Have been on birth control (pills) since spring of freshman year in high school, '98. Took accutane spring of 05 and finished fall of 05 (6 month cycle) helped a lot. That fall changed birth control to patch, orthoevra. got pimple here and there not bad. spring came acne flared a little and changed birth control to depo shot, gained lots of weight acne got worse. moved back with parents since move acne has been horrible and won't go away. never a day when i don't have 2-3 pimples and old scars all over face. feel disgusting. got depression senior year which ebbs and flows, but is never as bad as it was my senior year. no medication for that. my feet are almost always cold except when sleeping even in summer... hands often get cold. body cold armpits sweaty. don't like humidity don't like extreme cold or cold. skin is very light complexion and easy to scar with scars fading very slow. acne more on left side of face than right. acne on cheeks from corner of mouth up to ears and down on chin and upper neck almost always painful. some on back, but not usually cystic or painful. i've been reading about arnica 30c and silicea and was curious to know if these would help me or if there is something else i should be doing. current regimen exfoliant with salacylic acid (not used every face wash, but sometimes do) cleanser with benzoyl peroxide, toner, moisturizer with salacylic acid and also regular moisturizer... all oil free and non-comedagenic. doesnt work very well... just started using arnica and 400ml of water method yesterday. i obsess about this and hate going out in public, wonder if i overwash. please can anyone help me?

I am an esthetician in Olympia Washington and i just wanted to tell you there IS HOPE!! First of all you need to lay off the dairy products (asap). Sencond you need to find a Dermatologist that has light therapies or an Esthetician that does. LED (red wavelength)light therapie. You would do great with using salacylic acid....IF you can find an esthetician that can do a 6 week peel regime for you that would be great especially in conjunction with led light therapy. Lumiere is a brand of light therapie (i have it) and have had great results!! All my acne clients have improved atleast 60%. A few around 80%. Take a before photo and you will be able to really tell! I HOPE this helps you sweetie. I feel for you and wish i could get my hands on you to help you with this chronic condition. Cutting out dairy will help immensley!!!! Use rice milk if you drink latte's or use soy. Some poeples bodies have a hard time breaking down the protiens and enzymes in milk......?? Dr.'s will tell you that your diet has nothing to do with acne and i have a HARD time believeing that! OUR diets have everything to do with our bodies, period. good luck. amy
