gad
I have been taking Arg. Nit. 200 C twice a day (11 pills) for a week to get over GAD. Is it ok to continue indefinitely. Recently, after a severe stress causing issue, I felt as if there was no connect with my body. While walking or doing work, I felt like I was watching myself do it. This continued for a day. So, I stopped the pills. Please help.sunriseandshine on 2008-09-12
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
A total of 2-3 doses of the 200c were more than enough.
You are repeating way too much. These medicines are energy medicines which just stimulate the body in the direction of cure. Once the body starts responding further doses of the same potency are useless, and too much repetition can be very harmful.
Stop the remedy and wait for atleast 2-3 weeks, before asessing the progress.

Thanks Sameer for the quick reply. How do I take care of everyday anxiety. It is more whenever I have to step out of the house, so bad in fact that I avoid going out unless totally necessary, which is why I took the medicines regularly. Can I take a lower potency? Will I be able to handle daily anxieties without the medicine?

How did this problem begin ?
Has the problem been aggravated by Arg-n ?

It is difficult to point out an exact period when it begins. I have been anxious and a worry wart for quite some time. Although most of my anxieties are regular, I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about them. Am startled by sudden, loud noises, avoid people/places where I expect confrontations, in a 'fight or flight' situation, instead of standing up for what is right, typical response is to give in and then endlessly feel bad about being week-kneed and passive. I am not brave enough to handle anything on my own and am most anxious when my hubby is on tour. Feel secure at home. Can't say I am an extrovert, have a small group of friends who are there for each other and go back a long way. Though I drive very well and find it very relaxing, have been unable to drive on city roads for the past one year. I get palpitations when I have to drive on crowded city roads.
I like peace and quiet, soft music, feel-good films and people with a sense of humour. Prefer to spend free time reading books or listening to music. I prefer cooler climates.
My anxieties have aggravated considerably though after I shifted to a new home with a troublesome and abusive neighbour. I have excellent relations to date with my ex-neighbours and feel maybe I should never have moved.
Arg-nit. has always helped me, except for the instance which I quoted above where I felt like I was standing away from myself. I also take a dose when I have to travel in a car. Don't know if it is the medicine which works or because I feel psychologically reassured. I generally steer clear of medicines, rather letting my immune system take over to fight common ailments. I would, however, prefer something like an SOS medicine, which I could take before anticipated anxious situations/periods or after some acutely stressful event.

First things first...
'Arg-nit. has always helped me'
Homeopathic medicines never need to be 'repeated' and taken 'always'. For chronic problems like the ones you have there is no use finding an 'SOS' remedy which you take every time you feel stressed, as homeopathy can offer full cure in a gentle and permanent way with a few doses. This is not allopathy where everytime you suffer the same problem, you keep on gobbling pills. Homeopathy aims to eradicate the very roots of illness and these attacks would totally cease to happen under the correct remedy.
You mentioned in your first post, 'after a severe stress causing issue' ..can you elaborate on this ?

Also describe this in further detail ' I felt like I was standing away from myself'
How emotional are you ?
How sympathetic are you towards other people's problems ?
'Although most of my anxieties are regular'
Please elaborate the exact anxieties and fears you face. Nothing is 'regular' to a homeopath, as each person is different.

Re. standing away - I felt the same experience a few years back. Two days into my new job, my seat was directly in line of an
AC draft and had a high fever by the second evening (a friday). Since I wanted to resume work on Monday, the doctor gave a high dose. The fever was gone in two doses, but I felt disconnected. I stopped the dosage on the advice of the doctor. I guess something similar happened with Arg.Nit. since the feeling was the same.

2. Anxieties - If travelling in a car, hoping to reach safely, if car parked on a crowded road, hoping to come back to find out without any damage, losing luggage while flying, sickness of parents, kids and so on.

I researched a little on the net since my last post and wondered if I shd be taking Gelsemium. I don't crave sweets (in fact avoid them) and prefer to be left alone. Also, does Kali Carb help for self assertiveness. Kindly reply.

I guess the incomplete answers were re. these two.
1. How emotional. I am very emotional, touchy and easily offended. I have a strong sense of right and wrong and cannot stand people who try to pass off whatever they do as right. However, I lack the presence of mind to argue my stand clearly. In any confrontational situation, I end up being tongue-tied.
2. How sympathetic to other's problems. I am very sympathetic and try to do whatever I can to help. However, for the past year, I have been bogged down so much by own anxieties/timidities, almost everyone seems capable of handling their own problems.
I am bothered a lot by my lack of self-confidence and assertiveness. Should I take Gelsemium?
