19 month old with sleep problems
Hi, hope someone can help me with my little boy. I am looking for a homeopath for him, but thought I'd see if someone can help in the meantime as Christmas is upon us and things are pretty hectic. My son is 19 months old and is yet to sleep through the night without waking for a bottle - I think he's given us about 4 uninterrupted nights since his birth. This is particularly frustrating as his 5 month old brother has only woken in the night a handful of times since HIS birth.
He had a normal and very gentle birth in a birth pool after a slow labour lasting about 3 days. He was born at 37 weeks after a normal, healthy, but very tiring and uncomfortable pregnancy with morning sickness.
He was breastfed for 7 months, and began on solids at 17 weeks. He is a good eater, enjoying his meals and loves fruit and fruit juice. He now has follow-on milk as his bedtime drink and generally wants another bottle when he wakes at around 11pm and usually at 4am too, though the last couple of nights this has been at 1:30am. Often, in fact right now, he will drink his milk, yet continue to lay in his bed with his eyes closed, crying, only comforted by being picked up. He appears to be in pain, and sometimes, when we've put it down to teething, ibuprofen has helped him settle again, but he still wakes for his milk. Usually after sitting on one of our laps for half an hour or so he will go back to bed quite happily.
His other health problems are glue ear, a history of sensitivity to cow's milk (causing a rash of small, red, itchy spots on his arms and torso) and loose stools, though this seems to be less problematic now. He is very prone to coughs, colds and stomach bugs and is not yet speaking, though is starting to make more speech sounds and is able to use some signs. He has recently had a very severe case of flu which landed him in hospital when he suddenly developed pneumonia.
Apart from all this, he's an extremely happy little chap who always has a huge grin on his face and is busy busy busy all day long investigating his world and looking for mischief.
If anybody can give me some advice on something to help little Adam, I would be very very grateful. I've tried every bit of parenting advice I can find to get a full night's sleep to no avail.
Thanks in advance,
Emma.

Hi Emma,
Please tell , how affectionate is the child. Does he love to be hugged and caressed ?
Also, is he wilful or is he of a mild/yielding temperament ?
Does he have any fears ?
Also, please describe his appearance.

He is a very affectionate and cuddly child who loves to be held and carried.
He is gentle but very determined in his manner, so maybe you could say willful. He is prone to mild tantrums if he is not allowed to run free when he wants to. He does not like to see doors closed or have his freedom restricted. He becomes very excited at the prospect of an outing.
He does not appear to be afraid of anything, though becomes very upset if left by his parents, even if the other is still with him.
He has smooth, fair skin with straight blond hair and wide-set grey-blue eyes. He does not have any birthmarks. His build is medium and his head is quite round.
Hope this covers everything!

Dear Emma,
Please give him 3 doses of Pulsatilla 6c spaced by 3 hours for a single day only.
Dissolve 2 pellets of Puls 6c in 250 ml bottled water, (You can shake it gently after they have dissolved) and 1 teaspoon from here is 1 dose.
Give the doses for 1 day only, and then wait and watch for 3 days after the doses, and report back here.

Hi Sameer,
I have done as you prescribed.
Although he oddly slept all night the night BEFORE starting the pulsatilla (only about the sixth time since his birth), he has not done so since. Last night he had trouble settling to sleep and required bottles at 1:30 and 4am and also woke at 6am. He has managed to remain free from cold symptoms or stomach upsets the whole weekend though. He has felt hot in the evenings though.
