Cat with Chronic Kidney Disease
Hi there,My 14 year old female cat has chronic Kidney Disease
I remember when she was a kitten she was diagnosed with a heart murmur, but went away I believe on its own.
She has always been a generally healthy and very social cat that thoroughly loved people, outdoors, and up-keeping with her daily cleaning of herself (almost to the point of OCD).
She has always had issues using the litter box and went outside it (on the mat or floor by the door).
Now she has is very low in weight 2.1 kg and not washing hardly at all.
We have to encourage her to eat. Finishes within approx. 1 min (roughly maybe less) then thinks she is done until we put the bowl in front of her again and then she eats again. This goes on about 6-7 times. She enjoys water mixed in with her food and sometimes with her food warmed up. She seems to have a great appetite after going outside and seems "brighter and more alert"
A few weeks ago, she would drink large quantities of water in a short amount of time (drank for 2-3 min), not common now and drinking normal amounts now.
She is able to use the litter box, but only because its more convenient for her to use. A few weeks ago she would frequently urinate after drinking and after her subcutaneous treatments, but now not as frequent (roughly 2-3 pees a day now).
A few weeks back, (same time she was drinking the large quantities) her potassium was extremely low (to the point she had a seizure) and her phosphorous was extremely high.
She gets subcutaneously fluid at the vets 2-3 times a week.
She is also receiving Amino Acid for potassium.
She is most of the time constipated but stool is brown. She strains to have a bowel movement and sometimes can't get it all out and I find a few ball of poop on the floor.
The stool is brown and bally (almost like rabbit poop).
She has hyperthyroidism, previously treated with meds, but now the vet says she doesn't need the hyperthyroid meds.
The vet said that she had high blood pressure back in the summer; however, that has improved.
She is very weak in her hind legs after laying and does stumble a but, but once she gets moving she is fine. However, lacks energy.
I hope I covered everything.
I am fairly familiar with the use of Homeopathy and tried a few with her, but I think I need some guidance.
Let me know if you have any questions!
