Tootache - is it possible to avoid root canal
HelloI have had teeth trouble now since August when I had caries treated. The tooth (left lower molar number 6) never totally healed, I couldn't chew anything with it, it was painful to chew anything. Then the dentist polished the filling and it got a bit better but the problem remained.
Then later he took the filling out and put in a "medical filling", a temporary one. Since then I have had toothache on and off. I went to see him again because now he thought I might need a root canal done. But x-ray showed nothing wrong, no infection. The tooth is healthy and the filling is not even that near the pulp. So he polished the filling again and said lets wait and see.
But the problem persists. The toothache is on/off and now it often radiates to the left ear pretty badly plus the jaw joint feels a bit odd, like a bit numb. It's still painful to chew anything hard with the tooth, the tooth hurts from that pressure. Cold or hot don't bother the tooth.
So far I have tried:
- Nux Vomica 12C, no effect
- Hypericum 30C, seemed to help for a couple of hours
- Arnica 30C helps some too with the ache
My goal would be not just to find pain relief but to calm down the tooth if possible to avoid the root canal if possible. Of course if it has to be done, I'll do it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
If there is no infection, it must be the nerve in the tooth that hasn't been healed so I suggest you take Hypericum tincture or low potency like 6c three times daily and see if that helps.
