Dear Murthy,
I am trying to learn Homeopathy in my spare time. I would like to learn from you the methodology you follow for selecting a medicine.
When I read Kent's lectures, iam totally lost, because he emphasize more on the mental symptoms and i dont think that (to my limited knowledge)we can find anybody with that type of mental extremes in our day to day life.
At the most only one or two physical symptoms agree with the description . But is it not needed that the patient should fit to the overall drug picture?
If you can spare some time , please explain in detail the methodolgy in prescribing a medicine. Because it may help many others in this forum. ( a separate thread also can be started.)

Dear Dr. Murthy,
My schedule was really busy for last few weeks so I couldn't go online. I got Phos from India as suggested by you (for bleeding gums) and tried it for couple of weeks (few drops in water twice a day) but it doesn't seem to help at all. Please suggest if there is a better way to take it. I don't have any neck pain/stiffness anymore ( I figured it was a result of using wrong posture and changing chair helped).
I don't know which one I should go after first.....bleeding gums or the cavity in my upper left molar. I have also tried staph for two weeks (few drops in water twice a day). I don;t have much pain (only occasionally slight pain) but the cavity is still there and its black and whenever there is food stuck, it feels bad...and sometimes hurts.........I took staph and phos on different weeks........
I really really want my gums to stop bleeding and some solution to the cavity I have......if I can avoid going to the dentist I will be really obliged!!!
Thanks

I am unable to find any reference to Phosphorous being prescribed by me on this thread.
Were you refering to some other thread?
If it is so, give me the url of that thread.

Dear Dr. Murthy,
You are right! I didn't even realize that. I guess I was refering to this post by you:
Mouth, bleeding, gums, easily : alum., am-c., anac., ant-c., apis., arg-n., ars., arum-m., asc-t., aur., berb., bov., carb-an., carb-v., cist., con., crot-h., gran., ham., hep., iod., kali-chl., kali-p., kreos., lach., lyc., mag-m., merc-c., merc., nat-m., ph-ac., phos., rob., ruta., sep., sul-ac., tell., zinc.
Back, stiffness, cervical region, turning head, on : alum., am-c., am-m., aur., bry., calad., calc., chel., coloc., dulc., kali-n., par., rat., tarent.
The only medicine that covers both these problems are Aur,Amm.carb and alumina.
Since you seem to be familiar with homeopathy, read about these three medicies and see which one fits you more closely.
and since I've been reading about phos being used for bleeding gums, my subconscious mind just thought that you had told me that too......It's in that list though!!
I also bought alumina but haven't used it yet. Sorry about the confusion.....
so what do you recommend for my bleeding gums and the cavity in the upper molar.
One thing I want to ask frankly......Is it really possible to fill a cavity if the right medicine is found????? please be frank as I'm not going to hold you responsible for any outcomes....or no outcomes........I am just curious if anybody has seen that happen......I am a complete believer in homeopathy and natural medicine but I'm still curious if a big cavity in the tooth can really be filled... and as long as the cavity is there, it will be a problem, place for bacteria and food to get stuck......
please respond
thanks a lot

If you want my frank opinion, there is no way the cavity gets filled through homeopathy.
The only thing homeopathy can perhaps do is to make you manage even with the cavity.

dear dr. Murthy,
Thanks a lot, that's what I thought. I would love to cure my bleeding gums though...I've read so much that it's all b/c of bacteria and I'm putting so much effort on cleaning and brushing several times and flossing....I guess that's the one which is curable. Can you please suggest what I should take for that. NO other symptoms or problems currently!
As for the cavity, it will be fine as long as there is no pain (which there is none right now) and when I can make up my mind for extraction (be brave enough!!), I'll do that....
Thank you so much for being so kind......
sincerely

If you have cavities in your teeth .....you should first of all start taking Merc Sol.and Kreosotum.
Quoting huge material from homeopathic books will not help a patient.

The quotings from books help them to understand homeopathy better.
That makes them cautious enough not to fall easy prey to thoughtless prescriptions.
If the patient wants to go along with you, I have no objection.
Give him precise guidelines.

Dear Pankaj,
Most people who visit this site have some basic knowledge or are trying to learn to cure themselves. They are different from people who just follow doctor's commands and can't decide anything for themselves. And in any case it's my decision to go with Murthy's advice......But somebody has to make advice....You are free to give any suggestions but it's very wrong on your part to comment like that. Okay?
Take care

Dr. Murthy,
I tried a couple of different things, toothpastes and oils and leaning towards tooth extraction....(with heavy heart). It seems to be bleeding and some pus is beginning to form there. I've been brushing my teeth at least 3 times a day.
Not much pain yet but I don't know how long that will last. If I took silicea before extraction, would it help getting it out easily?? I've heard and seen horrible stories abouth tooth extraction......
Another thing where I really need help is my bleeding gums....they look otherwise normal (pink), I don't see any regression either (but a dentist will tell better). I know that there is no cure for that in allopathy, so I want to try some homeopathy for that.......
please recommend....

Now a days tooth extraction is nothing to worry about.
Go to a good dentist, and every thing will be over in a few minutes.
Regarding your gums problem let us know what is the diagnosis of the dentist. This problem can definitely be cured by homeopathy.

Silecia before tooth extraction is not a good idea.
Arnica 1M, a few doses frequently, will ease the pain after extraction.
You can switch over to Hypericum the next day to soothe the nerves.

Dear Dr. Murthy,
I finally went to the Dentist today. According to her I have gum disease (periodontal gum). When she poked them with the probe, they were bleeding like anything. She said that I have some bone loss also... It's not just gingivitis now and it's advanced. They appointed me for extensive cleaning programme and said that there are chances that I don;t have to go to periodontal specialist. They will do a set of 4 extensive cleanings/scaling the tartar etc to cleanup the bacteria.
So basically I have gum disease. I've been doing extensive cleaning my self for last month and they actually don't bleed as much as they used to while brushing. I'm sure her cleaning will help get rid of tartar but I trust homeopathy more for getting rid of the problem and get gums healthier.
Please suggest....
Thanks a lot

It is good that finally you went to a dentist. Please go ahead with the treatment they suggest.
Even Hahn. suggests to remove the maintaining causes. Once the cleaning process is completed, you can revert back to homeopathy for strengthening your gums.
All the best.

Shikha Varshney...if you are still looking for guidance...please be informed...that cavities in teeth occur due to the presence of a miasm in the human system.
The med to neutralise the miasm are Merc. Sol. and Kreosotum. Which I suggested to you earlier.
Even though you got one tooth extracted...you are not out of danger ...coz sooner or later other teeth will get affected in the same way.
Sad thing is a dentist never tell you that. Coz...unless your teeth get bad...you would not go back to him or her.
I have helped many people to resolve their dental problems of long standing through homeopathy.
