The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Remedy needed for 11 yr old with anxiety and fatigue

My 11 year old daughter has been experiencing symptoms of fatigue, light headedness and palpitations following a 3 day/2 night school trip away to France (we live in the UK). She has been to the same location with her school in previous years without incident.
Regarding the trip, I was able to extract the following incidents/situations:
-Weather was unusually hot but teacher would not let her wear her shorts (felt angry and frustrated)
-As she is only one in class fluent in French, the teacher in charge asked her translate for the rest of the class during a guided tour (she does not like attention and felt uncomfortable)
-Several girls wanted to share a room with her and she felt torn and unable to please everyone. Found this very stressful. Has had an issue with this in past as she is a popular girl and kids often get jealous over her.
-Felt very hot and “unwell” on second night and could not sleep at all. Wished she was home. Did not tell teacher she felt ill.
-Trip back on bus was extra hot as A/C not working and teacher did not let them open windows. Felt faint. Also helpless/angry again as still could not wear shorts despite heat.
As soon as I arrived to pick her up, she rushed me to the car as she “had to get home” before she fainted. She did not pass out but was exhausted and went to bed despite it only being 2pm. She has since described the faint/ light-headedness she experienced as being able to see and hear normally yet felt “like not being in this world” or “like a dream”. She woke briefly but did want to eat that evening. Slept for almost 14 hours that night but felt tired upon waking. Next day (Sunday, no school), ate normally and although tired seemed OK. Wanted to go to bed by 7pm.
She woke on Monday feeling faint and very tired/no energy. Cheeks flushed red. Relief from cold flannel on face and forehead. Normal appetite in day but less in evening. Missed school that week suffering from the following general symptoms:
No energy, tired all the time. Occasional sensation of nausea in morning but never physically sick. Felt better for lying down. Worse when doing activities.
Usually when lying down, felt completely well.
Unable to stay up beyond early evening. Going to bed extra early (around 7-7.30pm) awaking around 12 hours later feeling tired. Some evenings skipped dinner as too tired to eat.
Feeling “not of this world” triggered if getting up too suddenly, walking/being upright too long or doing simple tasks like feeding pets. During these spells (lasting around 30 seconds) closing eyes provided relief. Heart beating fast/ palpitations. No real time pattern.
Went to school for a 2 day window the following week but then had a lightheaded/palpitation spell at school and was sent home.
During these 2 weeks, she was followed by an allopathic GP who initially assumed a viral infection then later sent her to hospital for a battery of tests – all results normal. Hospital frightened her a lot. Worried that she had a serious problem.
After seeming to improve over the following weekend, on the Monday morning before school, symptoms returned with a vengeance. That evening we tried some Emotional Freedom Technique exercises, and when asking her to describe her feelings she broke down in tears. The main issues and feelings were:
- Missing her previous home, school and friends (we moved 2.5 years ago, she seemed happy up to now)
- Worried about her dad being away from home a lot (work requires him to be away 2-3 nights/week)
- Concerned about us not having a home (we are renting a house and landlord wants it back so are looking to move)
- Feeling pressure at school as first in year and feels she needs to keep that position, this school year seems to have a lot more work
- Certain kids have been teasing her for being clever
- A “friend” is jealous that she won a lead role in the school play
She has not had a lightheaded episode since but although felt better (still unusually fatigued) did not want to return to school. The school broke up for a mid-term break and although she was often tired had a week that was not too bad.
-Tired in a restaurant, wanted to go home by 7.30pm. Hardly ate (normally a place she loves)
-Went to a town 1.5 hours away, ate lunch out but tired right after and had no energy to continue visit
-Went to cinema. At around 7.30 (near end of movie) felt very hot, a bit panicky with racing heart and wanting to leave/go home. Felt Ok once out in fresh air. Ate a lot of sugar before episode.
-Didn’t want to go to school fireworks event (evening again) but once there in fresh air enjoyed it and had a good time returned around 8pm feeling a bit tired but happy.

She has now returned to school but was not keen to go back. She has been complaining of a cold/sore throat in the last few days along with leg cramps. Cool air still seems to make her feel better.

On the personality front, she is a high achieving perfectionist across academics, sport, drama and music. She is caring, quietly confident, has many friends though attracts a bit of jealousy from others and is ultra-sensitive to any negative (or perceived negative) comments. She can be a bit of a hypochondriac and worries quite a bit in general. She is also very possessive of her property and gets distressed if she loses something. She is concerned about her weight as some kids have unjustly called her fat. Her face is quite round and her tummy is a bit rounded but she is not overweight – just not media skinny. She enjoys food and eating, she loves carbs like pasta, potatoes and rice. While she has been unwell, she has been eating a lot of eggs. Her complexion is pale and her face gets very red if she runs or does sport. She perspires quite a bit and can be smelly under her arms. Can also be prone to flatulence.
In the past (around 4 years ago) she suffered terrible separation anxiety when starting a new school as she imagined I would not return to pick her up. This problem cleared up quite quickly using EFT.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I am going to post a few more questions. Some of them may be answered already so only do the ones that you haven't covered yet. I may also have more questions after that.

. Describe in detail the main problem - appearance, colour, shape, symptoms, behaviour etc. What happens, when it happens etc.

2. Describe any pains or behaviours associated with the symptoms.

3. Describe anything that makes the problem worse ie. position, temperature, food etc.

4. Describe anything that makes the problem better ie. pain is better for cold bathing or at night in bed.

5. Go through each symptom or problem he/she has, doing the same thing (answering questions 1-4), even if the problem does not seem connected to any others.

6. When did each problem start? What happened around that same time?

7. What is his/her character like? What kinds of fears or anxieties does he/she have? What makes him/her irritable? Flesh out his/her personality.

8. What foods does he/she crave or hate? What drinks does he/she crave or hate? Is he/she sensitive to anything he/she eats or drinks?

9. How does the weather or season affect him/her?

10. How have all his/her milestones gone? Does he/she have any issue with speaking, learning, walking, climbing etc

11. How is he/she with socializing with others?

12. What is his/her bowel habit like? Any problems? Any odours, strange colours or stool shapes?

13. Where does he/she sweat? Does it have a smell or does it stain a particular colour?

14. History of illnesses in his/her life?

15. Has he/she reacted to any vaccines or medical drugs?

16. Problems with sleep? Position he/she sleeps in? Nightmares or any dreams he/she talks about?

17. How is he/she with animals?

18. How is he/she with adults or strangers?

19. What is the family history of illness and disease?

20. What was the pregnancy like? Any odd symptoms or feelings that disappeared once he/she was born? (if you can remember this)

Thank you for looking into my daughter’s case, Dr Kempson,
See post above which I think generally covers questions 1 &2

3. Describe anything that makes the problem worse ie. position, temperature, food etc.
Trying to summarise:
Fatigue:
Seems to be worse when feeling hot. After midday meal. In evening.
Palpitations/Feeling “Not of this world”
When getting up, exercise, sometimes in conjunction with the fatigue, apprehending the feeling itself – this does not happen everytime she gets up etc. She tends to have good and bad days. My gut feeling is that some sort of fear is behind it (perhaps fear of the feeling itself?)

4. Describe anything that makes the problem better ie. pain is better for cold bathing or at night in bed.
Better lying down. Closing eyes. Cold: Cool flannels. Fresh Air.

5. Go through each symptom or problem he/she has, doing the same thing (answering questions 1-4), even if the problem does not seem connected to any others.

6. When did each problem start? What happened around that same time?
See initial post

7. What is his/her character like? What kinds of fears or anxieties does he/she have? What makes him/her irritable? Flesh out his/her personality.
In addition to what I wrote
-irritable when critised (or thinks is critised)or gets things wrong.
-now fearful of feeling her current symptoms at school

8. What foods does he/she crave or hate? What drinks does he/she crave or hate? Is he/she sensitive to anything he/she eats or drinks?

In addition: Hates blue cheese, goats cheeses. Hates liquorice. No major craving or sensitivities though often gets bloated tummy after eating.

9. How does the weather or season affect him/her? No noticeable change

10. How have all his/her milestones gone? Does he/she have any issue with speaking, learning, walking, climbing etc
All fine.Tended to be advanced/early in all areas.

11. How is he/she with socializing with others? Generally sociable. See post above

12. What is his/her bowel habit like? Any problems? Any odours, strange colours or stool shapes?
No real problems or particularities. Only mentioned that last week did “a very long poo”

13. Where does he/she sweat? Does it have a smell or does it stain a particular colour? See post above, no stain

14. History of illnesses in his/her life?
One febrile convulsion age 3. Plus general cough/colds. Odd ear infection which was cleared up by homeopathy. (cannot remember remedy). Had one fall and fainted then was sick at school in June of this year which she also thinks about as hated “embarrassment”. A feature of her illnesses is she goes down quick and recovers quickly too.

15. Has he/she reacted to any vaccines or medical drugs? No though has had only minimal vaccines

16. Problems with sleep? Position he/she sleeps in? Nightmares or any dreams he/she talks about?
No. Enjoys a good nights sleep. Always happy to go to bed. Feels irritable next day if goes to bed late..Occasionally dreams about relatively mundane things at school/friends..etc

17. How is he/she with animals?
Loves them and takes good care of them. Recently acquired 2 cats.

18. How is he/she with adults or strangers? Generally fine though can be a bit shy with strangers.

19. What is the family history of illness and disease? No major illnesses.
All grandparents still alive. Both grandmothers worriers. Quite a few perfectionists in family.

20. What was the pregnancy like? Any odd symptoms or feelings that disappeared once he/she was born? (if you can remember this)

Felt sick in 1st trimester, enjoyed eating scrambled eggs which as baby daughter liked a lot (still quite likes though not noticeably). Very fast birth at home.

Hello Dr Nawaz,
Here is some extra information that has not been covered in my other two posts.
Weight around 35kg, Height 1.40m (approx.), country UK, cold climate though at time of first symptoms it was unusually warm. Non-diabetic. BP and all vitals normal (sorry don’t have details but had full check at doctors, blood work and ecg fine too). Has not recently taken any medecines (just some vitamins). Family is stable with 2 parents and one older brother. Not yet started cycle.

Oh, forgot to mention, one day last week also complained of leg cramps in lower part of her leg but that just last a day. Better for massaging.

At first glance, this looks like Pulsatilla. I would suggest 200c to begin with.

INSTRUCTONS FOR SPLIT DOSING

Firstly, you need to create a separate dosing bottle. Get a bottle with a dropper, 15-30mls in size, and fill it with a mixture of water and alcohol (5 parts to 1 part). Dissolve 2 granules or 2 drops of the medicine you bought from the pharmacy into this mixture. Your doses will be made from this bottle.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of your hand, or another elastic surface like a book. It should be a firm hit not a tap. 2 hits is enough to begin with, and should not be increased unless it is clear that it is needed. The water in this bottle will 'remember' the number of times you have hit it, so that subsequent doses will be stronger (necessary to overcoming the resistance of your disease).

Place 1 drop into an amount of water - I would start with 1/4 of a cup (62mls). Stir thoroughly and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth. Throw the rest of the cup away.

This is one dose. Repeat doses would be started from the 2 hits on the bottle.

Each step of this process can be adjusted to reduced aggravation or to increase the effect of the medicine. In order to be able to do this, it is important to measure each step (count the hits, the drops, measure the water etc).

Give just one dose to begin with and let me know how she is after 3 days or so.

On day of taking remedy had a bit of a rise in anxiety that evening and upon waking the next morning though had a class she was worried about that day. She was happy at the end of school day that she had conquered her fear and enjoyed the day though was tired by early evening. Since then has pretty much been fine..
Thanks so much!
